1970 Yamaha XS1B

Early XS650

Sorry This Bike is Now Sold

For Sale an exceptionally original drum braked XS1B with matching Chassis/Engine Numbers (S650-016676) Making this a XS1B of 1970-1971 vintage, declared on the log book as a 1970 model. Pre electric start model. XS1's & XS1B's were never officially imported to the UK, this one was a private import from the States and was brought in in 1996. The bike is in extremely good original unrestored condition, the only items not original to my knowledge are the rear shocks and electronic ignition. The seat has been recovered on a new plastic base I believe supplied by Halco. The engine is absolutely fantastic being rebuilt by Halco a few years ago, starts easily and runs with out any glitches or rattles. The bike is now off the road (SORN) but should pass an MOT without any problems. The bike is very rideable and would make a great bike to cruise around on. It would also make a very easy restoration job. The chrome is in good condition but the paintwork was resprayed some years ago to a so so standard. The only mod that I can see is the edition of electronic ignition which makes it a very easy starter even if its not been used for a number of months.

This is the bike that showed the British bike industry that the Japanese can make large bikes with character but without the unreliability and oil leaks and ultimately it was the cause of the original UK bike industry to sadly disappear

When restored these bikes can fetch astronomically high prices due to their rarity. If you wish to view I am located in the South London Area.
